Pokemon GO: Walkthrough (items and commands)

Our third guide is dedicated to the items that you will come across and come in handy in Pokemon GO, as well as the intricacies of team play.

ALL ITEMS IN THE GAME AND THEIR PURPOSE

In Pokemon GO, you can use various items that you either get from the very beginning of the game, or you find them at PokéStops (or buy them in the store). Below is a list of all items known to date, as well as the functions that they perform.

Items for sale

The following items can be found in the Pokemon GO in-game store and purchased with coins. Some of them can be found at PokéStops.

Pokeballs are the main tool in the hands of your trainer. They are used to capture new Pokémon. From the very beginning of the game, you will have 50 pokeballs available. To get more, interact with «Pokestops», level up or buy them in the store for 20, 100 or 200 pieces for coins.

Frankincense can be used to attract Pokémon (to get them out of hiding), as well as increase the speed at which you seek out Pokémon lurking in the wild. This bonus is activated for the next 30 minutes. At the beginning of the game, you only have 2 incense at your disposal. But you can buy them in the store for 1, 8 or 25 pieces in exchange for coins.

The egg incubator is used to incubate Pokémon eggs that you can find at the same PokéStops. When you place an egg in this incubator, you will need to walk a certain distance. The distance is tracked using the GPS function on your phone. After you pass it, a Pokémon will hatch from the egg. At the very beginning of the game, you will have one incubator. It can be used multiple times. More fragile versions of the incubator will break after three uses. You can get them at PokeStops or buy them in the store.

Lucky Eggs are used as consumables, unlike normal Pokémon Eggs. They increase the experience gained for any actions performed within the next 30 minutes after activation. You can buy them in the store for 1, 8 or 25 pieces for coins.

The Lure Module is a more advanced incense that attracts Pokémon exclusively to a PokéStop for 30 minutes. This is a more effective tool for attracting creatures. In addition to the fact that Pokémon with much more pleasure approach this «Pokestop», other players can also use your bonus (you can also use another trainer’s lure module). Buy modules in the store for 1 or 8 pieces for coins.

Your bag is used to store all items except Pokémon — Poké Balls, etc. Your bag can hold 350 different items, including a camera and an incubator. In order to increase the capacity of the bag, you must purchase a bag upgrade from the store. Each such upgrade increases the number of items it can hold by 50 pieces.

Your Pokémon Storage is where all of your captured Pokémon and their eggs are kept. When you start the game, you have 250 free Pokémon slots in your storage and 9for eggs. In order to increase the storage capacity, you need to purchase an upgrade in the store that increases the number of stored Pokémon by 50 pieces.

Collectibles

Not all items in Pokemon GO are purchasable. Most of the useful ones you can find on «pokestops».

Revive and Max Revive

Revives will help you revive a Pokémon that has fainted and restore half of its total HP. If you have max revive, the Pokémon’s health will be restored to full size. Note that a Pokémon can only faint when fighting opponents. If this is a training fight with a friend, then the Pokemon will never faint.

Revives can be found at PokéStops after the Trainer is at least level 5. In some cases, for leveling up a trainer, you will receive revives as a reward (read above).

Potions

After fighting in the training halls, you can use potions to restore the HP of Pokémon. Each type of potion is unlocked at a certain level. You can find potions at PokéStops after your Trainer is at least level 5. As your trainer levels up, you will receive potions as a reward. Super Potions will appear at PokéStops at level 10. Each subsequent level you will receive them or hyperpotions as a reward. A normal potion restores 20 HP, a super potion restores 50 HP, and a hyper potion restores 200 HP.

Razz Berries

Eat Razz Berries while catching a Pokémon, making it easier to catch it on the next throw. You can find these berries at PokéStops as soon as your Trainer is at least level 8. Several berries can be obtained by leveling up a trainer.

Greatballs and Ultraballs

After you reach a certain level, you will unlock access to greatballs and ultraballs. Unlike standard Poké Balls, these balls cannot be purchased from the store, but are given out as a reward for leveling up a trainer. You can also get them randomly at PokéStops.

Great Balls will start spawning once your Trainer is at least 12 and Ultra Balls are at least 20.

Other Items

The following items are given to each trainer and cannot be purchased.

Camera — an item that is automatically given to you at the beginning of the journey. With it, you can easily take a picture of everything that happens in the game. While catching a Pokémon or fighting an enemy, click on the «camera» icon.

EGGS AND POKÉMON HATCHING

In Pokemon GO, you often find eggs. As a rule, this happens when interacting with «pokestops».

Pokéstop in the game.

There are different types of eggs that can contain certain Pokémon. But in order for them to hatch, you will need to do a good job. Each player has one incubator at the beginning of the game, which allows them to hatch eggs after the player has walked a certain distance in the real world, measured by the GPS function and a built-in pedometer.

How do I incubate an egg?

To hatch a Pokémon, click on it and place it in the incubator to start the process. Please note that at the beginning of the game you have only one incubator. But on the other hand, you can buy other incubators in the store or get them as a reward for leveling up a trainer. The shop and other versions of the incubator will allow you to hatch Pokemon from three eggs, after which they will fail. The starter incubator is used an infinite number of times.

After the egg enters the incubator, you will see information about how many kilometers you need to go to hatch the Pokémon.

Please note that the GPS works in sync with the phone’s pedometer, so you can’t fool it. It is necessary to walk these kilometers on foot, and not drive a car. This should open the game. You can ride a bike, but slowly.

Most eggs will require a walk of 2 to 5 kilometers to incubate. The greater this distance, the more rare the Pokémon will hatch from the egg.

Incubating a Pokémon is the surest way to get a lot of this type of Pokémon candy.

Egg incubation 2 kilometers. The following Pokémon can hatch: Bulbasaur, Charmandur, Squirtle, Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, Rattata, Spirow, Clefairly, Jigglypoof, Zubat, Geodude, Magikarp.

Egg incubation 5 kilometers. The following Pokémon can hatch: Ekans, Sandshrew, Nidoran (W), Nidoran (M), Vulpix, Odish, Paras, Venonat, Mewtwo, Psyduck, Munky, Growlith, Polivag, Abra, Machop, Bellsprout, Tentakul, Ponita, Slowpoke, Magnemite , Farfetch, Doduo, Seal, Make-up Artist, Shelder, Gastly, Drowzi, Krabby, Voltorb, Execution, Cubon, Likitung, Koffing, Rhyhorn, Tangela, Kangaskhan, Horsey, Goldin, Junk, Mister Mime, Tauros, Porygon.

Egg incubation 10 kilometers. The following Pokémon can hatch: Onyx, Hitmonly, Hitmonchan, Chansey, Cyther, Jinx, Electrobuzz, Magmar, Pinsir, Lapras, Evie, Omanite, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Snorlax, Dratini.

Coins

All goods in Pokemon GO are bought for the game currency — Pokemon coins (PokeCoins). Sometimes you can get these coins in the game, but mostly they are bought for real money.

How to get free coins? To get coins in the game, you must assign your Pokemon to guard the training hall (click on the «shield» icon in the store window). The number of coins received depends on the number of Pokémon assigned. You can pick them up approximately once every 20 hours.

Pokémon storage upgrade (+50 to stored Pokémon) — 200 coins.

TRAINING ROOM LEADERSHIP

Once you have enough Trainer level and strong Pokémon, you can try to become the local Gym Leader. Fight your rivals and dominate your area.

HOW TO CAPTURE THE HALL (CLUB)?

After you join one of the teams at the fifth level of the trainer and catch good Pokémon, you can challenge the enemy team.

Instead of being ranked by level, Pokémon will fight against creatures with approximately the same combat power. Regular Pokémon and those that have not evolved will have low combat strength. Evolved and rare Pokémon in most cases are characterized by high fighting strength. A Pokémon’s strength can be raised with stardust and lollipops (candy). How this is done was described above.

How to control the training room?

To become the leader of the hall, you have to deal with the enemy, lowering his prestige. Next, you need to find the appropriate room to challenge. Look at your Pokémon and then find a gym that your team can defeat. It’s pointless to fight a Pokémon with a combat strength of 150 against a Pokémon with a combat strength of 1000 or more.

Each gym has a different number of trainers. The first trainers you encounter will have the lowest combat strength of the Pokémon. The number of trainers in each gym depends on the level of prestige of the building itself. By defeating opponents, you will lower the prestige of this hall. Thus, some of the coaches will leave him.

After defeating all trainers, you will automatically leave the gym. But you can immediately return there and defeat the enemy trainers again. Their number will be smaller this time. So you will further lower the prestige of the hall. And so on until the prestige is equal to «0».

When the team is expelled from the hall, it will turn gray. You can make this room yours. If you do this, you will become the leader of the hall. But as soon as one of the trainers on your team has a Pokémon with more combat power, he will automatically become the leader instead of you.

Gym Battle Basics

Unlike turn-based battles in other Pokémon games, Pokemon GO will offer you short fights that require you to tap a lot on your smartphone screen.

These real-time battles are really easy. Flick an enemy Pokemon with your finger to make your Pokemon perform a normal attack. Swipe left or right across the screen to dodge enemy attacks. While you attack an enemy with normal strikes, the special attack bar fills up. When the blue gauge fills up, pinch and hold your finger on an opponent for a few seconds to have your Pokémon perform a special move.

Battle Tips

Check out some helpful tips in the Pokemon GO guide on StopGame.Ru. You need to have a good team with a high combat power of Pokémon. Only after that it will be possible to attack the enemy hall. Once you have a close-knit team of six, check out the tips below.

Build a team around your opponent’s Pokémon!

When you challenge an enemy club, you will be able to create a team of six Pokémon. You can change the composition of the team by clicking on the Pokémon icons. The game itself will automatically select a team for you that the AI thinks will help you win the battle. You need to make sure that your team not only has a high combat strength, but also the Pokémon that will be most effective against enemy creatures.

A lot depends on the type of Pokémon in battle. Therefore, you must make sure that your Pokemon is not of a weaker type relative to the opponent. If they are weaker than the opponent’s Pokemon in type, then at least make sure that your characters are much stronger than others in terms of combat strength.

Rank your Pokémon team from best to worst!

The Pokémon in the top left corner of the team will attack enemy creatures first. You have to make sure that from the first to the last Pokémon are in order from best to worst. Swapping Pokémon during a fight is a very expensive process, because your opponent does not stop attacking during a character change. So try to do it as little as possible.

Use special attacks sparingly!

Your Pokémon’s Special Attack does massive damage, but it also makes it vulnerable to basic enemy attacks. If you’re going to use a Pokémon’s Special Attack, make sure you do it when your Pokémon is dominant.

If you see your opponent about to use a special move, get close to him quickly and attack with normal attacks as much as you can.

Multiplayer

You must not attack the enemy hall alone. A team with other trainers online will be able to destroy enemy Pokémon faster.

Gym Training

In addition to conquering enemy clubs, you can also train in the gyms of your comrades. You don’t train your Pokémon, you raise the prestige of your own gym. Thus, even more coaches from your team will be able to join the club.

Level 1 Hall: 1 Pokémon, 0 prestige points.
Level 2 Hall: 1 Pokémon, 2000 prestige points.
Level 3 Hall: 1 Pokémon, 4000 prestige points.
Level 4 Hall: 4 Pokémon, 8000 prestige points.
Level 5 Hall: 5 Pokémon, 12000 prestige points.
Hall level 6: 6 pokemon, 16000 prestige points.
Level 7 Hall: 7 Pokémon, 20000 prestige points.
Level 8 Hall: 8 Pokémon, 30,000 prestige points.
Level 9 Hall: 9 Pokémon, 40,000 prestige points.
Level 10 Hall: 10 Pokémon, 50,000 prestige points.

Training in friendly gyms provides an opportunity to gain experience for the coach. Approach this room and click on it. Click on the icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select one of the Pokémon you want to train with.

If your Pokémon loses, it won’t faint. The amount of his health will be equal to 1 HP.

Gym benefits

The only way to get free coins in Pokemon GO is to control the rooms. Every 24 hours you get a bonus for membership in the club. Moreover, it is received not only by the leader of the hall, but also by all the coaches in it. Therefore, you must make sure that there are as many Pokémon in the hall as possible. For each Pokémon placed in the Hall, you will receive 500 Stardust and 10 Coins. This amount does not depend on whether you are the leader of the hall or not. To receive a bonus, go to the store and click on the «shield» in the upper right corner of the screen.

Pokémon Healing

The only way to heal or revive your Pokémon is to use potions or revives. If you’re planning on challenging an enemy Gym multiple times to bring its prestige down to zero, be sure to revive and restore your Pokémon’s HP each time before attacking.

To heal or revive a Pokémon, go to the item menu and click on the one you want to apply to the Pokémon. You will be moved to the menu with injured Pokémon. Here you will need to select the Pokemon on which you want to apply a potion or revival.

There is currently no way to restore or heal Pokémon without items.

TEAMS

Until you reach level 5 (trainer), you will not be able to access either teams or gyms.

But as soon as the level of the trainer is increased to the fifth, you will have the opportunity to interact with the clubs (Gym). Professor Willow will introduce you to his three assistants, each of which will allow you to choose one of three teams: intuition team (yellow), mystical team (blue), courageous team (red).

Courage Team

The Courage Team is led by Candela, who values training and strength. Candela explores ways to increase the natural power of Pokémon. The team’s logo is designed in the style of the legendary bird Moltres.

Team of Valor logo (Courageous team).

Intuition Team

This team is led by Spark, who believes you can never go wrong if you trust your intuition. Spark studies Pokémon’s intuition. The team’s logo is designed in the style of the legendary Zapdos bird.

Mystery Team
