Overview[]

Sparrows consist of a drive engine, antigrav system, steering system, and seat. Steering is managed via the pedals, whilst the hand grips control thrust and braking mechanisms. A comms system and sensor suite are located right in front of the driver’s seat.

While the Sparrow is fast and relatively hard to hit, it is also rather fragile, can easily be destroyed by enemy fire, and gives next to no cover to its rider. Sparrows can, however, run down smaller enemies. It is prone to rolling over if used carelessly.

After taking enough damage, a Sparrow will fire its engines and launch itself as a projectile, exploding on impact and inflicting damage to anything nearby.

Gameplay[]

In Destiny, a new character will obtain their first Sparrow during the mission The Warmind. Other Sparrows can be obtained through various activities and vendors, such as Amanda Holliday. Some Sparrows were also given through promotional offers.

Tier 4[]

These are the 30-class sparrows upgraded with a drive from Xûr. There are 4 different types of drives: «Emerald Coil», Plasma Drive, Stealth Drive, and Void Drive. Each increases the speed and durability of the Sparrow, but also changes the contrail color. Emerald Coil will make the contrail green, Plasma Drive will make it blue, Void Drive will make it purple, and Stealth Drive will make it red. These sparrows also have slightly higher boost speed than tier 5 sparrows, but cannot be used to perform tricks.

Tier 5[]

These are special legendary Sparrows that have enhanced durability and speed, with the exception of the EV-30, 31, 32, and 33, which have only Tier 3 speed and durability.

Exploits[]

  • «Glitch-thrusting» or «trigger-Boosting» allows the rider to transfer the sparrow’s boost meter into additional speed. This is because the sparrow goes at a faster speed than usual right after boosting, then slows down to its usual pace. This exploit works by repeatedly pressing and releasing the boost trigger. The sparrow will act as if it just started boosting and launch forward, reaching a greater speed. It can be used more effectively if used right before a jump, allowing the sparrow to retain its launch speed while in midair.
    • This does not work in Sparrow Racing League.
  • A Sparrow will not take any fall damage if a Guardian uses the strafe thrusters right before it hits the ground.
  • Sparrow flying (upward): a technique that utilizes roll destabilizers and strafe thrusters to lift the sparrow in the air. It has various uses, and is the fastest way to travel on a sparrow. By letting the sparrow roll on its horizontal axis, you must direct the force of the strafe thrusters upwards relative to the ground and in the opposite way of which the other side of the sparrow is facing. E.g., if your sparrow is tilted 90° to the left, pressing the right strafe thruster button will launch your sparrow into the air. This technique can vary in execution, but the most efficient way to perform it is by using a strafe thruster every 180° spin, in the same fashion as stated above.
    • You can fly indefinitely by letting the Sparrow fall and regain its boost meter, making it possible to lift the sparrow into the air again.
    • Sparrow flying (sideways): this is very similar to the first sparrow flying exploit with the only difference being that the sparrow needs to be facing the direction in which its moving with its side. This allows the user to fully control the sparrow’s speed and height mid-flight. This is due to the fact that the strafe thrusters can be used to propel the sparrow in the direction it is going in, as well as lift it upwards at the same time.

Destiny 2[]

New characters can obtain their first Sparrow from Amanda Holliday in the Tower after reaching level 20 and completing the Red War quest. Sparrows can also be obtained from Eververse engrams or, rarely, completing Nightfall Strikes.

Some Sparrows come with extra perks such as ones that automatically reload the Guardian’s weapons while riding.

Biography of Elena Vorobey

Elena Vorobey is a talented comedy artist, one of the few female comedians on the national stage. She is called the queen of parody, and the “Take Me” number has been causing the audience to have attacks of Homeric laughter for more than a dozen years. But in the personal life of the artist there were not so many reasons for fun, but she still remains an incorrigible optimist and believes in her lucky star.

Childhood and adolescence

Elena Vorobey (Libenbaum’s passport) was born and raised in Brest, in a family of Polish Jews. She was an early child and was born when her parents, Yakov Movshevich and Nina Lvovna, were barely nineteen. The family lived very modestly — his father worked as a plumber in the housing office, his mother was interrupted by odd jobs. There was no time to raise her daughter, so the girl was sent to a nursery at the age of one, and then to a kindergarten for a five-day period.

When Lena went to first grade, her sister Natasha was born. Her parents paid much more attention to her, which offended her eldest daughter very much. But the grandparents in the eldest granddaughter doted on the soul and generously gave her the much-needed warmth. Grandfather knew five languages, sang well and played various instruments and insisted that Lena be sent to a music school. He went through the war and Stalinist repressions and dreamed that his granddaughter would learn to be a musician, become a respected person and earn good money.

Grandmother was also a heroic person — at the beginning of the war, a fifteen-year-old girl, she worked as an assistant in a family where two young children were growing up. When the bombings began, she managed to pull the kids out from under the ruins of their house and took them first to Bobruisk, and then, on the last train of goods, to Oryol. There she placed the girls in a shelter for the evacuees, and she herself graduated from nursing courses and went to the front.

After 75 years, Elena, with the help of Boris Korchevnikov and the editors of the program «The Fate of a Man», managed to find one of the rescued girls. Galina Kupervatskaya now lives in Canada, she was incredibly happy to meet the granddaughter of the heroic girl who saved the life of her and her sister.

The rest of the relatives of the father and mother did not manage to survive the war — all of them were shot by the Nazis in 1942 and buried in a common grave on Bronnaya Hill near Brest. Elena found out about this only in 2019, when the archives were declassified and it became possible to find out by name all the victims of this terrible tragedy.

Elena decided to become an artist when she was a teenager, having first appeared in Leningrad during a school excursion. Before that, the girl had never left Brest, and the huge city with luxurious palaces and drawbridges struck her imagination. Elena remembered the address «Mokhovaya, 34», where the Leningrad Institute of Theater and Cinematography was located, and firmly decided to go there after the music school.

The parents were not enthusiastic about this idea, but did not dissuade their daughter, hoping that she would fail in the exams. And so it happened — Lena did not pass the competition, returned to her native Brest and got a job in a bread shop. In her free time, she washed the floors in the entrances, but she did not say goodbye to the dream of becoming an artist, and on the third attempt she nevertheless became a student at the Leningrad State Institute of Technology with a degree in Theater, Variety and Cinema Artist.

Creative path

The master of her course was Isaak Romanovich Shtokbant, founder and artistic director of the St. Petersburg theater «Buff». He usually took the best students to his troupe, and Elena was certainly impossible not to notice. She stood out for her non-standard appearance, comical spontaneity and the ability to laugh at herself. Even at choreography lessons, all those present rolled with laughter, although Elena performed standard classical exercises, in which, it would seem, there was nothing funny. In improvisation, she had no equal at all, so organically and talentedly did the artist get used to the proposed images.

While still a student, Lena began to appear on the stage of the Buff Theater, where her colleagues were Yuri Galtsev, Gennady Vetrov and Natalia Vetlitskaya. For a long time she was an actress of one role and played the mother-in-law of the protagonist in the play «Generals in Skirts». At the same time, she created comic sketches and parodies, which she performed in pop reprises.

In 1993, the actress took part in the Yalta-Moscow-Transit competition, where she received the Grand Prix and the Audience Award. But for further promotion, the participation of sponsors was necessary, which she did not have. But Elena was not used to backing down, especially when her further career was at stake. Having accidentally met a rich and influential banker at the airport, she plucked up the courage and turned to him for help. So the girl got a sponsor, thanks to which she was able to realize her creative ideas.

First of all, Elena moved from the Buff Theater, in which she no longer saw worthy prospects for herself, to the Actors, and then, using the invitation of Vladimir Vinokur, she moved to Moscow. To do this, she had to radically change her life and even take the stage name Sparrow (similar to the legendary Edith Piaf, whose songs Elena loved very much and herself performed more than once).

With the light hand of Vladimir Natanovich, Elena was at his anniversary evening, which took place on the stage of the Concert Hall «Russia». With Yuri Galtsev and Gennady Vetrov, the artist presented to the audience a parody of Vladimir Vinokur, Lev Leshchenko and Laima Vaikule, which she invented just the day before. I liked the number, and soon the whole honest company appeared on central television in the Full House program. Producer Alexander Dostman signed a contract with Elena, and the artist began her solo career.

From that moment on, Sparrow was talked about as a talented original artist who had taken her niche among domestic comedians. And since women comedians could then be counted on the fingers, each of her performances became a bright and unforgettable event. An example is her best numbers “Take Me”, “Singing Exam”, “Fortune Teller”, as well as hilarious parodies of Elena Malysheva, Nadezhda Kadysheva, Zhanna Aguzarova, Masha Rasputina, Lyubov Uspenskaya and other stars of domestic show business.

In this hilarious comedy, the actresses play two rather strange women from completely different worlds, who in some incomprehensible way are united by love for one man.

Personal life of Elena Sparrow

There were many novels in Elena’s life, but she did not manage to create a strong family. She does not make much secret of her personal life and frankly shares her joys and sorrows on the air of television programs.

With her only official husband Andrei Kislyuk, Elena studied at the theater institute, and then worked at the Buff Theater. At first they lived in a civil marriage with Andrei’s parents, but they did not really like the poor provincial woman, and they had to think about their own housing. And just then a small room in a communal apartment turned up, and in order to properly arrange it, I had to officially get married.

Before that, Elena had another marriage, a fictitious one, concluded with a friend at the institute for the sake of registration. It cost her a three-liter can of moonshine, but she officially became a Leningrader and was no longer afraid of being distributed to some remote province.

Sparrow lived with Andrey for ten years and broke off relations herself after learning about his betrayals. Without thinking twice, she decided to radically change her life, left the Buff Theater, and then completely moved to Moscow. There, an old friend Igor appeared in her life, who by that time had also divorced his first wife. An affair broke out between them, as a result of which baby Sonya (born in 2003) was born.

Elena was in seventh heaven with happiness — before that she could not get pregnant and no longer even hoped to experience the joy of motherhood. The only thing that overshadowed her joy was the position of Igor, who had nothing against his daughter, but did not want to marry. The actress was very offended, but she put up with this circumstance for the sake of the girl’s happiness.

Igor did not indulge little Sonechka with his visits, he did not pay alimony at all, and it soon became clear that he had a new family. For Elena, this was another blow, but she still continued to communicate with Sonechka’s father and even introduced her daughter to his eldest son Grisha.

In 2008, Elena was proposed to by Australian millionaire Michael Hyde. They met a year earlier at a social event. Michael gave the artist a figurine of a sparrow (and she collects their collection) and Sonya liked it. Elena visited the groom, but did not find a common language with her future mother-in-law. She demanded that Sparrow stop going on stage, and if Elena could still put up with life in two countries, then she would never have such demands.

She and Michael continued to maintain a relationship, although the wedding did not work out. But then a millionaire who, as it turned out later, was doing very badly and he was depressed, lost control of his car and fell off a cliff.

In 2016, another terrible tragedy occurred — Igor, the father of his daughter Elena, fell from the roof of his own house and received a fracture of the base of the skull. For nine months he lay in a coma, and all this time Elena did everything possible to put him on his feet. But the miracle did not happen, and the man died. And two years later, the girl herself needed the help of doctors — she developed scoliosis of the 3rd degree, and a spinal operation was needed.

Elena took her daughter to Germany, where the best German specialists took care of her. The operation was successful, and now the girl feels great. This situation helped the mother and daughter to get closer and begin to understand each other better, which only benefited their relationship. But there was a time when Sonya became addicted to social networks and completely out of hand.
