Summer is finally over! Well, almost. I know it’s not officially over, but once that calendar turns to September, it’s Pumpkin Spice season for me. I also associate the end of summer with the time when the video game industry starts to ramp up its big releases. In the case of PlayStation, we’ve got The Last of Us Part I coming next month.

For many longtime PlayStation gamers, the remake of The Last of Us, even with all the graphical and gameplay improvements, doesn’t feel like a true blockbuster release. After all, we’ve played this game on PS3 and then again on PS4. But really, it’s been nearly a decade since this game launched on PS3 and technology has come a long way since then.

The game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up “using Naughty Dog’s latest PS5 engine technology with advanced visual fidelity.” In other words, the game is prettier than ever, which is saying a lot since The Last of Us was revolutionary when it launched back in 2013. Naughty Dog has also improved the game’s controls and expanded the accessibility options. If you’ve already played The Last of Us, then modernized gameplay mechanics and improved visuals may not be enough to draw you back in. But if you never got around to playing the original, this is definitely a must-play next month.

Check out what else is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in September 2022:

September 1

  • Chenso Club

September 2

  • JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R
  • The Last of Us Part I

There’s quite a few titles to get excited about and, for me personally, Temtem is one of them. This is basically Pokemon but on consoles other than Nintendo. It’s a massively multiplayer creature-collection adventure in which you explore the Airborne Archipelago while catching Temtem, battling other tamers and customizing your house.

As a sports fan, I’m also looking forward to both NBA 2K23 and FIFA 23. Both games should see noticeable improvements this year on PlayStation 5. FIFA 23 will harness the power of HyperMotion2 Technology which aims to set a new standard in realistic and immersive gameplay. NBA 2K23 will also see the return of The Jordan Challenge.

Tunic is another must-play game. The indie action-adventure sees you explore a fantasy world as an anthropomorphic fox in gameplay similar to that of The Legend of Zelda. Tunic was originally released on Xbox and PC earlier this year and received glowing reviews. Now PlayStation gamers will finally get to experience it.

New and exciting PS4  and PS5 releases seem to come out each month, giving dedicated gamers plenty of worlds to choose from. With the PS5 being a powerful console and Sony branching out into more third-party games, there are more options to keep track of than ever.

Fortunately, we’ve gathered all of the best titles and listed other worthy games for you to consider adding to your collection. Here are all the PS4 and PS5 releases to look out for in November.

God of War Ragnarok (PS4 & PS5) — Nov. 9

Perhaps one of the biggest releases of the last couple of years, God of War Ragnarok is the highly anticipated sequel to the hit 2018 game from Sony’s Santa Monica Studio.

The new game picks up where the last one left off, with  Kratos and his son Atreus looking to survive Ragnarok, a series of events that brings about the end of days. In familiar God of War fashion, Kratos will have a ton of new combat moves at his disposal, as well as new enemies and abilities with which to showcase.

God of War: Ragnarok

The Sonic franchise is back with a new entry this month, with Sonic Frontiers taking players into the first-ever open world in Sonic history. Although Frontiers aims to incorporate new aspects into the Sonic series, its traditional Sonic elements like rings and grind rails, as well as various platforming elements, remain, including Sonic’s ability to go very fast, of course.

Fans of both team-based FPS titles and the world of Gundam are in for a treat this month, as Gundam Evolution is finally set to arrive on consoles. Gundam Evolution puts two opposing squads of six against one another in various objective game modes. There are currently 17 total Gundams (5 paid, 12 free) to pilot as well, each of which have their own abilities that you can use to battle against other players.

What are you playing?

The holiday season is here, and with it comes a handful of some of the biggest and most anticipated game releases. Despite a relatively slow start to the year leading into an even slower summer, there are still some big titles here for fans looking to check out.

First up, God of War Ragnarok highlights the biggest releases by a mile. The highly anticipated next entry in the God of War series continues the story of Kratos and his son Atreus, and introduces new characters and enemies to take down.

If you’re looking for some nostalgic fun with a ton of new updates, then Sonic Frontiers might also be up your alley. The latest Sonic game harkens back to the days of old Sonic titles, but still features a ton of new, updated ways to play and explore the world.

Finally, Gundam Evolution might also be for you if you’re into team-based FPS titles. This title puts you in the seat of your favorite Gundams and has you trying to defeat other players using various abilities.

What to play in November 2022: Game release calendar

Major releases

The Chant

  • Genre: psychological horror
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation
  • Release date: November 3,

A terrifying and beautiful third-person adventure that follows the story of a woman whose trip to a seminar on spiritual growth turns into a creepy hide-and-seek with supernatural monsters.

The Chant is a cinematic game with beautifully choreographed cutscenes and seemingly good acting. As for the gameplay, the title seems to be a cross between a walking simulator and survival horror. How exciting it will be — we will find out in November.

The Entropy Center

  • Genre: puzzle in the spirit of Portal
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation
  • Release date: November 3,

The Entropy Center is clearly inspired by Portal: there is a mysterious science complex, there is a matter control gun, there is an AI companion. Although here we have not to create portals, but to manipulate the space-time continuum, moving objects in time. Tasks will range from the simplest, such as restoring a fallen column, to complex and complex ones.

It is difficult to make an interesting puzzle with a plot: many developers fell short either in terms of the script, or in terms of content. It is all the more interesting to see how the authors of The Entropy Center cope with the task — perhaps we have a potential hit worthy of standing on a par with the eminent progenitor.

WRC Generations

  • Genre: rally simulator
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation
  • Release date: November 3,

WRC Generations is the next edition of the WRC series dedicated to the World Rally Championship. Traditionally, players are waiting for actual tracks, cars and pilots, a story campaign and multiplayer modes.

Talking about the new part of the WRC is like talking about the new game in the FIFA series: you get exactly what you expect, namely, the same as in the previous parts, with a few innovations. Although the developers are trying their best to convince us of the «revolutionary» new items. In short, it’s just another rally simulator, nothing more.

God of War: Ragnarok

  • Genre: brutal slasher
  • Platforms: PlayStation
  • Release date: 9November

Sequel to the highly acclaimed 2018 action game, a new installment in the God of War series, a new journey of Kratos and his son Atreus through the world of Norse myths. God of War: Ragnarök is obviously one of the biggest hits not only in November, but also in previous months, and it is unlikely that many titles will dare to compete with him for the status of the best game of the year.

We hope that Santa Monica Studio took into account the criticism of the previous part and corrected its shortcomings — in particular, a small number of bosses and repetitive opponents. More, in general, nothing is needed — just let us dive into a new adventure!

BUY (PS)

Floodland

  • Genre: post-apocalyptic city builder
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo
  • Release date: November 15,

Floodland is a new strategy game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Under the leadership of the player will pass the settlement, whose inhabitants are trying to survive, experiencing a constant lack of resources, being exposed to disease and attacks by marauders. You have to guide them with your firm hand, solve problems and constantly make difficult decisions with far-reaching consequences.

The game promises a constant change in survival conditions, where droughts will alternate with floods, epidemics and riots. And due to random generation, each passage will be unique. It sounds at least curious, and it looks very attractive.

Goat Simulator 3

  • Genre: goat simulator
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation
  • Release date: November 17,

In keeping with the absurdity of the Goat Simulator series, the developers at Coffee Stain skipped the sequel and decided to release the third part right away. It will appear on the screens of monitors and TVs in November.

Goat Simulator 3 will feature an open world, local and online co-op for up to four players, goat customization, lots of secrets and easter eggs, mini-games and more. Whether this is enough to keep interest — after all, we have a sandbox in which the player must entertain himself on his own — is an open question.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me

  • Genre: interactive cinema
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation
  • Release date: November 18,

The Devil in Me is the fourth and final part of the first season of The Dark Pictures Anthology horror anthology, which also includes previously released Man of Medan, Little Hope and House of Ashes.

A new game in the genre of interactive cinema will send the main characters — and with them gamers — to the creepy house of a serial killer, where they will face mortal danger. Since Man of Medan, the authors have improved in each subsequent game, so you should expect The Devil in Me to be the best part of the line.

Evil West

  • Genre: Third Person Co-op Action
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation
  • Release date: November 22,

Wild West, vampires, non-stop action and co-op — what could be better for a shooter lover? Probably, only to find out the name of the game developer — the Flying Wild Hog studio, known for Hard Reset and the Shadow Warrior series, is responsible for Evil West.

We are waiting for a dark action about a vampire hunter, who becomes the last hope of mankind. Armed with revolvers, a lightning-spewing gauntlet and other gadgets, you will be alone or with friends to shoot hordes of monsters. The best activity for the last week of November.

Gungrave G.O.R.E

  • Genre: 3rd person fast-paced action
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation
  • Release date: November 22,

Gungrave G. O.R.E is a stylish shooter game from the Korean studio IGGYMOB. The main role is a slender young man with long hair and in a leather jacket, who deals with his enemies in a brutal dance of death.

The game takes us back to the times when the characters were cool, did not reflect on their actions and showed a unique style with every molecule of their body. However, it is too early to sing Gungrave G.O.R.E — the project may turn out to be a new hit or become a resounding failure.

BUY (PC) BUY (PS)

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight

  • Genre: a new addition to one of the main MMORPGs of our time
  • Platforms: RS
  • Release date: November 28,

The Dragon Isles Awaken — World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will give players a new dose of adventure, and, as its name suggests, will bet heavily on dragons.

Even the new class that will appear in this MMORPG will become, literally, a dragon — this is a representative of the Draktyr race, which will be able to switch between the forms of a humanoid and a fantasy monster. In addition, players are waiting for new specializations, story quests, challenges, locations, gameplay mechanics and much more — everything that major updates for MMO games usually promise.

BUY (PC)

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

  • Genre: co-op shooter
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox
  • Release date: November 30,

The creators of Warhammer: End Times — Vermintide and Warhammer: Vermintide 2 present Warhammer 40,000: Darktide — practically the same as the previous games, only in the 40000 universe.

A brutal first-person co-op action game that puts players shoulder to shoulder against hordes of enemies in the hive city of Tertium. Considering the experience of the authors in previous projects, the new title simply must ooze with pathos, spewing liters of blood and give indescribable pleasure from battles with the forces of Chaos.
