This month’s Essential tier games have been revealed, and the leak from user billbil-kun on dealabs was correct again.

  • Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time (PS4 and PS5 versions)
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (PS4)
  • Arcadegeddon (PS4 and PS5 versions)

For more on each title, here’s the official PlayStation Blog’s rundown:

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

“An all-new Crash adventure awaits! Dr. Neo Cortex and N. Tropy are back at it again and launching an all-out assault on not just this universe, but the entire multiverse. Wield four powerful guardians of space and time that give Crash and Coco the power to bend the rules of reality and conquer dangerous obstacles in exciting new ways. And you’ll not only play as the wumping, jumping, marsupial duo: experience things from different perspectives with the one and only Dr. Neo Cortex. Play as Crash, Coco, Tawna, Dingodile, or Dr. Neo Cortex and battle bosses such as N. Gin, Louise, Nitrus Brio, and Nefarious Tropy.”

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan:

“In this branching, cinematic horror game from the creator of Until Dawn and The Quarry, five friends set sail on a holiday diving trip that soon changes into something much more sinister. All playable characters can live or die, with the choices you make deciding their fate. Experience your terrifying story alone, with a friend online* or go for safety in numbers with up to five players offline.”

Arcadegeddon:

“Gilly, the owner of a local arcade, is trying to save his business from a faceless mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co. …and what better way to stick it to the man than with a brand-spanking-new super game. Unfortunately, the corp gets wind of Gilly’s plan and launches a cyberattack, injecting a virus into the game. Now it’s up to you to rise up and save both the game and the last remaining local arcade in this ever-evolving co-op multiplayer shooter. Offering a mix of PvE and PvP gameplay, you and up to 3 friends online to explore multiple biomes, compete in mini games, find hidden chests, and battle a crazy cast of enemies and bosses.”

Sony reveals the three games that will be a part of the free PlayStation Plus games for July 2022, including a brand-new, day one release.

This past month saw Sony make some major changes to its PlayStation Plus subscription service by introducing three brand-new tiers for users to choose from: PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium. Regardless of which tier fans sign up for, though, they are all entitled to the free games that Sony gives away every month. This includes the free PlayStation Plus games for July 2022, which have now been officially confirmed.

The free PS Plus games for July 2022 were leaked ahead of time, but now fans have official confirmation of what games they can expect with next month’s offerings, available from Tuesday, July 5 until August 1. The free PS Plus games for July 2022 are headlined by Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, with both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game available. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is the latest entry in the popular Crash Bandicoot platforming series, earning critical acclaim at the time of its original release in 2020.

Joining Crash Bandicoot 4 is The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, a co-op horror game where player choice determines what happens in the story and the fates of the various playable characters. Man of Medan is the first entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, a series of similar cinematic horror titles all developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind the recently-released The Quarry.

  • Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time (PS4/PS5)
  • The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan (PS4)
  • Arcadegeddon (PS4/PS5)

And finally, Arcadegeddon rounds out the free PS Plus games for July 2022 lineup, with both the PS4 and PS5 versions available. What makes Arcadegeddon especially notable as a free PS Plus title is the fact that it’s a brand-new, day one release. Arcadegeddon has been available on PC in early access for some time, but it’s now making the jump to full release, and it’s doing so as part of the PlayStation Plus lineup.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the game, Arcadegeddon is an online co-op shooter with both PvE and PvP elements. It’s developed by IllFonic, a studio best known for its asymmetric multiplayer titles like Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, and Arcadegeddon will all be available for PS Plus subscribers to claim beginning July 5, but in the meantime, fans still have time to claim the free PS Plus games for June 2022. The free PS Plus games for June 2022 include God of War, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
