Epic Games Community Rules | Stay safe and have fun

Updated September 7, 2022

We want everyone in the Epic Games community to play and connect with friends in a relaxed and friendly environment. And we need your help.

The Epic Terms of Service and Agreements set out the rules for using Epic services, so some of these principles may be familiar to you. There are many ways to communicate through games, services, and other Epic products, so it’s important for us to explain the community requirements in more detail.

These Community Guidelines apply to all users of Epic’s games, services, and other products. These rules explain how to communicate with other members of the Epic Games community. Below we give some examples of specific situations, but this does not mean that the rules apply only to them.

Sticking to the rules is easy. But if they are not followed, we will take action, up to and including a permanent account ban.

Community Rules

Personal information

It is forbidden to disclose the personal information of other users, except for the display name, and we strongly recommend that you keep your personal information private. It is unacceptable to threaten to disclose the names of alternative accounts of other users and their real names, as well as to disclose their data and report the location of users.

Intolerance and Discrimination

Epic does not tolerate any form of hate or discrimination.

The Epic gaming ecosystem welcomes differences based on race, ethnicity, nationality, skin color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, etc. Do not humiliate or boycott other users or entire groups, do not show hatred in communication.

Bullying and abusive behavior

Respect other users when you chat, play or create art. It is forbidden to threaten users, intimidate and humiliate them, violate their personal boundaries, as well as behave disrespectfully and obscenely.

Attempts to assert oneself at the expense of others will not lead to anything good. Much easier and more fun to play friendly.

Imitation

Do not impersonate other players, streamers, celebrities, government officials, Epic employees, or anyone else. And also do not appropriate other people’s merits. Impersonating another person, deceiving others, is wrong.

Fraud and bullying

Play fair and by the rules. Don’t cheat, don’t interfere with others, don’t collude, and don’t try to win at the expense of developers’ mistakes. Do not tell others about cheats, vulnerabilities and game errors known to you and do not advertise them. Found an error? Report her.

Dangerous or illegal activities

Do not engage in or support illegal or dangerous activities such as gambling, drug use, online scams, human trafficking, prostitution, publishing personal information, and falsely calling the police within the community; do not share content that glorifies or incites violence. Do not threaten to harm yourself or others, even as a joke — such threats are taken seriously. If you see something that could endanger other players, file a complaint directly in the game (for example, in Fortnite or Rocket League) or contact player support.

Cheating

Do not cheat other players. Fraud of any kind, including attempts to obtain account information and the buying and selling of accounts and personal information, is prohibited.

Inappropriate content

Content, communication, and activity in the Epic ecosystem should create a positive experience for users. When creating any materials, you must take into account the Content Requirements.

Consequences

We consider each case of violation of these rules individually. We will look at how serious the violation is, whether this user has broken the rules before, and many other factors. Depending on the severity of the violation, measures will be taken against the user: from the blocking of social functions (for example, voice chat and adding friends) up to a permanent blocking of the account.

In the event of a lifetime ban, the account owner may lose access to games, virtual items, account balance and other items that he received or bought. If the offender has multiple accounts, we can take action on each of them.

Reporting Players

We all make a community, and only we can make it welcoming and friendly.

If you come across a player who violates the Community Guidelines or Content Requirements, or is disrespectful to other players, you can report them in-game.

If you have a personal grudge against a user who hasn’t violated the Community Guidelines, you can block them.

Security

Take care of your account information. Third party access to your account puts you at risk. If something seems fishy or too tempting, it probably is. There are no free V-bucks. Do not share your or anyone else’s account information with anyone.

Epic provides members of the gaming community with all the necessary security tools. To learn more about the tools we’re developing to protect players and how to keep yourself safe, check out our FAQ.

If you would like to learn about the parental controls feature, as well as restrictions on your child’s play time and activities in Epic Games games, please go to the Parental Controls section in Account Management.

This is not the final version of the Epic Community Guidelines. Watch for changes. “But they didn’t tell me …” is a poor attempt at justification. In the end, we got together to have fun playing the game!

In addition to the Community Guidelines, check out these additional resources:

  • Epic Games Content Requirements
  • Fortnite Creative Mode — Authored Content Rules
  • Rocket League Code of Conduct

Thank you for being a part of the Epic community and wanting to make it a safe and friendly environment.
