Cuphead — The Delicious Last Course is a premium action title for PC developed by Studio MDHR Entertainment Inc. It is a DLC for the original Cuphead game that came out back in 2017. Players will join brothers Cuphead and Mugman for another adventure to a new undiscovered island.
Releasing years after the original Cuphead game, Cuphead — The Delicious Last Course introduces a new character and maps to explore. Players can expect a whole slew of weapons and magical charms to aid against new big baddies when it officially comes out on June 30, 2022.
A delicious course
Cuphead is a 2D run-and-gun action game that featured distinct 1930s cartoon aesthetics and groovy jazz tunes. Apart from its unique presentation and style, it was known for its punishing difficulty. It was also such a rewarding feeling when bosses were finally defeated. After years of hoping, fans can finally hop back into the game with the latest DLC, Cuphead — The Delicious Last Course.
In this DLC, you will meet Ms. Chalice, a budding adventurer from the previously undiscovered Inkwell Isle. Together with brothers Cuphead and Mugman, you will be helping out Chef Saltbaker with one final quest. Armed with new weapons, magic charms, and the unique abilities that your new-found allies bring to the fight, you’ll face the baddest and most fearsome bosses ever.
Throughout your journey, you will learn of the existence of the Legendary Chalice and the secrets that it holds as you try to acquire it. The game will be officially released on June 30, 2022, and will require a copy of Cuphead. Also, if this is your first time into the series or you haven’t played it in a while, you might experience a steep difficulty curve.
Going out with a blast
Cuphead — The Delicious Last Course is a great send-off to one of the greatest 2D action platformers of the last decade. Fans will get to experience a fast-paced and thrilling ride one last time with a new character, more action, and more baddies to defeat. If you like these types of games, this is an easy recommendation and a must play.

What is Cuphead in General?
The original cuphead character is a Walt Disney design but in this case it took a turn for the worse.
When you play the game you are one of the two cuphead protagonists that fight your way through several levels and through boss fight after boss fight. The interesting turn that game designers took here that we are sure Disney never intended is that the two characters are trying to repay a debt to the devil. The game alone had super high ratings from many different sources, which is why we decided to take a look at the game ourselves. Now this is simply the Cuphead game in general, but now what you have all come here for, Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course.
What is Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course?
This part of the game is a DLC or extra downloadable content for players to play on after finishing the original game. This includes extra levels, brand new final bosses, and a new character that you can play as called Ms. Chalice. This DLC also includes even more charms and weapons for you to choose from. One great bonus is that you can not only use Ms. Chalice in the DLC, but you can replay the original Cuphead game with her as well.
The brand new levels and adventure is centered around helping a character called Chef Saltbaker actually understand Ms. Chalice’s backstory. We will not give away too much information for now, but we will tell you that one of Ms. Chalice’s special abilities is to double jump. So do with that information what you would like and download this DLC as quick as you can!
Personal Rating
Just like the original game was rated, we would also have to put this game at the top of our list with a 9/10 personal rating. The DLC does an excellent job of keeping the story similar to the original game, while making everything feel new, as if you were playing a brand new video game.
It simply extends the franchise and makes the game even greater since you now have more levels to play, more characters to play with, and many more weapons and charms to use. Based on trying out the game ourselves, we highly suggest that you try it out too!

Preview | Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course — XboxEra
Originally announced in June 2018, Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is finally out a little over 4 years later on June 30 this year.
th . We were invited to a pre-event showcasing 13 minutes of brand new gameplay and a lengthy Q&A session with MDHR about everything fans can expect. What I saw seems to be worth the long wait, so let’s get down to business.
Full Cup
One of the biggest questions fans have about the Cuphead DLC is how it’s integrated into the main game. The Delicious Last course adds a new island to the game, which can be accessed after you clear the first of the mausoleums in the game. The boat now spawns on every island and allows you to travel both back and forth between the game’s land masses, an incredibly welcome addition.
A visit to the boatman will take you to a new DLC island where you will quickly meet the Legendary Miss Chalice herself. After offering Mugman an adorable looking cookie, she will switch places with him, taking on a physical form when he becomes ethereal! This is only temporary, of course, and is a speculation of the story of how this long-dead lady with the golden chalice became a playable character.
A new character, Chief Saltbaker (the GREATEST Chief in all the lands), is working to master the Astral Plane itself. His Wondertart recipe is sure to completely return Miss Chalice to the mortal world forever (well, at least until she dies again). The cookie is only good for temporarily swapping places, and by God, we need this tartlet to revive our friend!
The main ingredients for this wonderful confection are scattered all over the island, guarded by a bunch of new bosses, of course. There will be no platform stages this time around, but Studio MDHR promised to replace them with «unique challenges that represent a fresh experience.» Aside from the new story cutscenes and exploration of the world, we did get to see one new boss fight with amazing animations where Miss Chalis gave the old one or two to the ice wizard.

This battle demonstrated new multi-level transformation stages. At first, events take place in the ice arena.
Miss Chalice’s Animation Kit is brand new and made especially for her. Shortcuts were not used here, as each frame of animation was not only made by hand, but also on even larger paper than in the main game. This dedication to the craft was a big reason why the DLC, originally scheduled for 2019, ended up falling short of its goal by three full years. The words «Scale Creep» and «Announced Too Early» were spoken when asked what happened.
The person playing the demo we were watching was pretty good because, like the original release, everything looked incredibly complicated. Miss Chalis and a few charm additions did have a few new tricks up their sleeves to try and level the playing field (a bit). Miss Chalice has a double jump, forward dash parry, and an extra health point to counter the fact that she takes up a charm slot to activate. When the question of difficulty came up, one new spell was mentioned that restored HP after a successful parry, rather than adding to your super meter.
Part of this incredible dedication to animation is that it’s still just old school paper. There are no shortcuts at all, which means that Miss Chalis not only has brand new motion animations, but also her unique super and airplane animations. In the preview, we were shown her rotation, which dealt damage in a straight line up and down, which was key to her defeating the wizard boss. There was also talk of a couple of new attacks, the first of which was the Convergence Shot. This is a W-shaped attack that you can focus in a tighter pattern if you hold down the fire button. The other was Crackshot, which was another type of homing attack to help those (like me) who find it difficult to aim during the frenzy that is Cuphead’s level.
Music and all together
MDHR was kind enough to provide us with three different music tracks for our video, all big and better sounding early 20’s classic tunes. th century. I’ve been humming the damn «delightful last course» theme song ever since I heard it, and the boss’s music is a crazy, frenetic, beautiful cacophony.
They were quick to point out that much of this DLC’s development time was spent during the ongoing pandemic. Up to 110 musicians play on each song, far more than the original, but there can never be more than nine musicians on a recording at any one time. This is just one of many issues that have increased the amount of time it took for this release to come out, but like everything else, it seems to be worth fighting for as the end result is stellar so far.
Another big question is how this DLC ties into the main game. Anything you unlock can be returned to any part of the original game. From Miss Chalis to new amulets and weapons, it’s all carried back with the new Fast Travel boat system. The developers have been thrilled with the fast-paced options that the new additions to the game offer, and depending on your skill set, the new DLC should take the average «I beat Cuphead but barely» player around three to four hours. Launched at just 7.9$9 seems like the perfect amount of content for something that is so insanely complex and time consuming to visually create.
We were also teased that the new island has «so many secrets».
Completion of the case
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course promises to be, in the words of its creators, «a really cool conclusion to the original Cuphead story,» and I can’t help but agree. If you liked the original, then this is a great way to spend some more time before saying goodbye to this unique and excellent platformer. It comes out June 30th th is priced at the aforementioned $7.99 and will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (no new native version available for Series and PS5 consoles, unfortunately).
