How to Play Deadline Adversary Mode

Deadline is one of the Adversary Modes available in GTA Online. Players will compete to outmaneuver their opponents on futuristic sports bikes.

GTA Online is a sandbox game that hosts an impressive number of activities and exciting challenges for players, including the Deadline game mode. Deadline is one of the many Adversary Modes found in the online jobs menu and was added in the Bikers update. Deadline I through Deadline XIV are selectable, with the number indicating the map for the game. Originally, only seven maps were available, but seven more were added in June 2021 during the Deadline week event.

Playing one round of Deadline in GTA Online will automatically unlock the Nagasaki Shotaro for purchase, regardless of the player’s placement in the round. The Deadline outfit will also unlock and is available at any clothing store in eight different color options. Deadline additionally rewards players with GTA$ and RP for competing.

As many as four players can face off against each other in GTA Online’s Deadline mode. They will begin the round on a Nagasaki Shotaro that will glow one of the four different team colors: green, orange, purple, or pink. Each player’s bike will leave a temporary light trail behind them, and the main objective is to force opponents to collide with this trail, causing them to explode. Players may lose one life every time they explode, depending on the gameplay settings. There are two different win conditions possible in this game, most lives left or most kills acquired, both relative to the timer at the bottom right of the HUD.

Three different MarioKart-style power-ups will spawn on the field for players to collect in a Deadline mode match. Boost will give the player’s bike a momentary jolt of speed, providing an opportunity to cut off rivals. Zoned will slow time for five seconds, allowing for careful maneuvering in treacherous spots. Hop can be used to leap over an opponent’s trail to avoid a collision. Any power-ups players collect will be lost if they explode.

The Shotaro will never fully stop on its own and explodes if forced to stop. Players will also explode if they fall off the edge of the map, hit an obstacle, hit an opponent’s trail, or hit their own light trail. Running into a rival’s bike isn’t necessarily lethal; players with lives left will respawn with a few seconds of invincibility, and their bike will take a moment before it begins leaving its light trail again.

If the round ends and any players are tied for first place, they will enter Sudden Death. A dome will appear around the remaining players and will begin to slowly shrink. Leaving the Sudden Death Zone will result in a loss, and the last player standing wins.
