GTA Online has always had its issues with cheaters in the past, with players using God Mode, mechanic hacks, infinite ammo cheats, etc. Recent news, however, has fans questioning the future of GTA Online as Rockstar has supposedly removed a massive percentage of their anti-cheat system for PC players.

The short answer to this question is yes, GTA Online still has anti-cheat software. However, according to a recent leak, most of it has now been removed, which lets us question whether it might as well have been removed outright. As stated by Rockstar insider TezFun, who tweeted, “In an odd move, the latest #GTAV PC patch removes essential components of the anti-cheat system. Resulting in the removal of approximately 95% of the anti-cheat system.”

Upon discovering this, many fans joked that the anti-cheat system had done nothing to prevent cheaters in the past, saying that Rockstar may as well have deleted the entire thing instead of leaving 5% of it intact. However, this does leave many questions from fans as to what Rockstar is planning with this bizarre removal.

Some speculate that it could simply be Rockstar getting ready to roll out a new anti-cheat system, especially with the significant annual winter update quickly approaching. It remains to be seen if this will be the case, but it’s obvious that some GTA fans are confused by this and are wondering what Rockstar has up their sleeves.

Although Rockstar Games hasn’t explicitly stated that it would update its anti-cheat system, it wouldn’t be shocking if it did. So for now, we’ll have to take Tez’s reporting with a grain of salt and await official word from Rockstar regarding the anti-cheat system in GTA Online and GTA V.
